Discover the story behind one of the oldest Islamic manuscripts in the world with a new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), starting on Monday 20 November.
Delivered over four weeks, the free course will explore the significance of the Birmingham Qur’an, the methods used to determine its age and how it is cared for at the Cadbury Research Library. Other topics include how to identify features of Qur’an manuscripts, the Mingana collection of Middle Eastern manuscripts and their relevance to the 21st century, and the ethics of collecting from different cultures.
