Getting the right help at the right time when you are experiencing a mental health crisis can be vital but difficult and depend on what services are available locally.

The voluntary sector has a key role to play in offering alternatives to NHS provision and the sector’s foundational values of mutuality, empowerment and holism are appreciated by people who find themselves in such a situation. Funded by the National Institute for Health Research, HSMC in partnership with the Third Sector Research Centre is investigating the role of the voluntary sector in mental health crisis care across England - the study protocol was published at the end of 2017.

The research involves a survey of voluntary sector organisations and the link to this will remain open until Easter at: https://bham.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/the-contribution-of-the-voluntary-sector-to-mental-health-4

The team are expecting to publish their findings in Spring 2019. You can keep up to date with the research via our project website.
