We were delighted to be invited by NHS Improvement to contribute to a webinar, discussing system leadership in the context of the 'Developing People-Improving Care' (DPIC) framework.

DPIC is a national framework developed by NHSi and designed to develop leadership and improvement capability across the NHS in four critical areas, the first of which is system leadership. The HSMC Director of Leadership, Belinda Weir, shared details of our work at HSMC to develop system leadership capability in health and social care, including the Aspiring Directors of Public Health programme which is now in its second successful year. The programme builds on the University of Birmingham research into the roles of 21st Century public servants and supports a new approach to collaborative and distributed leadership across the health and care system. Belinda also discussed our ongoing work on systems leadership and how we are putting partnership principles into practice through cross-University collaborations with INLOGOV and MDS.

Belinda was joined in the webinar by Debbie Sorkin, Director of the Leadership Centre.
