Dr Ashley Cole is currently working in the school of Social Policy teaching in Criminology. Her research interests include social movements, black social movements, leadership, black feminism.

Biography

In 2012, Dr Ashley Cole began her journey as an international student from America to the UK.  From here, she transitioned from studying Politics and International Affairs to Sociology and Criminology. Currently, she just finished her PhD in Sociology. Her PhD is centred on leadership practices within a social movement organisation and a case study on the current Black Lives Matter Movement organisation. Through Dr Cole’s PhD thesis, she was able to explore how leadership is utilise in a social movement that focus on a leaderful structure.  

Outside of academia, Dr Cole loves to travel. She loves immersing herself into new cultures and food. If she is not travelling, she will probably be advancing my skills in swimming and cooking. She is always looking for new activities to try.
