Professor awarded prestigious ACSM Citation Award

Professor Janice L. ThompsonProfessor Janice L Thompson, Professor of Public Health Nutrition and Exercise at the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, has recently been awarded the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Citation Award. This is one of the two most prestigious awards given by ACSM and is granted to an individual or group who has made significant and important contributions to sports medicine and/or the exercise sciences. 

This is a major career achievement award within the field of Exercise Science, considered to be the equivalent of being made a Royal Fellow. Professor Thompson has been a Fellow of ACSM since 1997, she will receive her award at the 2015 Annual meeting in San Diego, CA.

"I'm extremely honoured to be receiving the ACSM Citation Award," says Professor Thompson. "This is one of the highest honours bestowed by ACSM, and recognises my achievements and contributions to research and scholarship, education, and service to the exercise sciences over my 28 year career. It is deeply inspiring and humbling to be among this elite group of scientists and educators, and I look forward to continuing my work for many years to come."
