Dr Vikki Burns, a Reader in Science Education in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, was a FameLab national finalist in 2014.  FameLab is a worldwide science communication competition, in which the challenge is to create a 3 minute piece about scientific research that is fun and engaging for a lay audience.

Dr Burns says “I decided to dress in a wetsuit and use a scuba diving analogy to explain the biological link between obesity, cytokines, and depression.  I now support my students to create FameLab style videos, as it really encourages them to pick out the most important points and use more imaginative approaches.”
