Dr Maria Kavussanu, Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology here at the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology (SEPP) published by the American Psychological Association. SEPP, which is the official journal of Division 47, Exercise and Sport Psychology, is currently one of the leading journals in the field of sport and exercise psychology. Maria has been appointed for a term of 4-6 years and will start in January 2016.

Maria’s research interests are morality in sport, achievement motivation, and performance under pressure. She has received funding for her research from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), The Nuffield Foundation, the International Olympic Committee, the Australian Research Council, and the World Anti-Doping Agency. Maria is on the Editorial Board of the Encyclopedia of Sport and Exercise Psychology, member of the ESRC Peer Review College, Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, and serves on the Editorial Board of three other journals. She has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has received several invitations to speak at international conferences. She is currently programme leader for the  MSc in Exercise and Sport Sciences.
