Lena is a joint-PhD candidate in Health Economics at the University of Birmingham and Maastricht University. She started her research project with the Health Services Research Department in Maastricht in February 2019 and will be joining the Health Economics Unit at UoB in September 2019.

Lena has been awarded the joint-PhD studentship between University of Birmingham and Maastricht University. Her project will focus on identifying, measuring and valuing intersectoral costs and benefits of sexual health interventions. Lena gained substantial, hands-on research experience as an intern at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and the Institute for Work & Health in Toronto, Canada. Most recently, Lena worked as a Researcher at the Access to Medicine Foundation in Amsterdam, where she developed a strong interest in improving access to preventive measures and treatment of treating sexually transmitted infections. Besides, Lena is passionate about promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights worldwide.
