Fire Door Inspections

Fire door inspections within Chamberlain will be carried out from Wednesday 8 October to Thursday 16 October 2025, with no inspections taking place over the weekend. These inspections are part of our standard safety procedures to ensure all fire doors meet regulatory requirements. Inspections will be conducted between 9am and 5pm, and access to both communal areas and individual rooms will be required.

Surveying Works

Surveying is currently taking place across communal areas in Chamberlain, including flat hallways and riser cupboards. In some cases over the next two months, surveyors may need access to your flat .

These surveys won’t require access to bedrooms and will be carried out by University-approved contractors.

As always, unless it’s an emergency, no work will start before 9:30AM and will only happen Monday to Friday. If you have any concerns, speak to your Customer Service Manager.

External Works

Balfour Beatty, our appointed contractor, is currently carrying out inspection works on the lake-facing and road-facing sides of Blocks A, B, and C.

To allow these inspections to take place, scaffolding and / or platform lifts may be installed, and some external panels temporarily removed. All inspections are focused on kitchen areas only - there will be no scaffolding and / or platform lifts outside bedroom windows.

These routine checks are a key part of our ongoing commitment to providing high quality accommodation. Further updates will be shared here as the works progress.
