Tuition fee liability

The University’s academic year dates are published on our website. If you withdraw or commence a temporary leave of absence from your studies before the end of the academic year, your tuition fee for the year may be adjusted. The date of your withdrawal or start date of your temporary leave of absence (as reported to Registry and recorded on the Student Record System) and the type of programme on which you are registered will determine the amount of tuition fee that you will be charged for the year. The information on this page explains how your tuition fee for the year will be determined.

Important note regarding student loans

If you withdraw from your studies and you are in receipt of a student loan, the University will notify Student Finance of your revised fee liability so that your loan will be adjusted accordingly.

Important note regarding temporary leaves of absence

If you take a temporary leave of absence from your studies, your tuition fees will be prorated so that you are charged only for the period that you have attended in each academic year. If you are in receipt of a student loan, the University will notify Student Finance of your revised fee liability so that your loan will be adjusted accordingly.

Student loans (both tuition fee and maintenance loans) and grants, scholarships and bursaries are not normally payable during a temporary leave of absence from your studies.
