African MBA Scholarship 2024

Applications are now open for the University of Birmingham African MBA Scholarship. This is a prestigious scholarship covering the full tuition fee for one African candidate joining the full-time Birmingham MBA September 2024 (£35,850 for 2024/25 entry).

What is the Birmingham MBA African Scholarship?

At Birmingham Business School, our vision is to promote curiosity and thought leadership for Responsible Business. The Birmingham African MBA Scholarship is awarded to those who demonstrate a commitment to reinvesting their skills and experience gained from the Birmingham MBA back into their community in Africa.

This scholarship has been donated by a Birmingham MBA alumnus for over a decade and is open to African candidates only. The final decision is based on academic excellence, your personal statement and your response to the following essay question:

How will you use the skills you gain by completing your MBA programme at the University of Birmingham to drive positive change and innovation in your community in Africa? 

Eligibility criteria

  • You must hold an offer from the University of Birmingham to study the Full-time MBA September 2024
  • You must be an African citizen
  • You must be in financial need with a commitment to return to Africa to reinvest the skills acquired on the Birmingham MBA back into your community
  • Up to five years of experience or three years in cases of exceptional potential, including extensive managerial responsibility
  • A good Honours degree or equivalent, such as a degree level professional qualification.
  • IELTS 7.0 (with no less than 6.5 in any band); TOEFL IBT 95 (with no less than 22 in any band); Pearson Academic Test of English 67 (in all four skills)
  • Please note we will also consider candidates without a first degree or professional qualification but with at least ten years’ work experience including significant managerial responsibility

How to apply for the Birmingham MBA African Scholarship:

  1. Apply to study the full-time MBA at Birmingham Business School.
  2. If your application to study is successful, you will receive an invite to apply for the African MBA scholarship shortly after receiving your offer letter.

  3. Apply for the scholarship by 11:00am BST Sunday 2 July 2024. As part of your application, you will need to answer an essay question.

  4. Your application will be assessed by committee and you will be notified of the outcome of your application by email.
