How to apply for your scholarships
Some of our scholarships may require you to complete an application form. We will give an overview of the key things that our scholarship forms may ask for.
On the other hand, some of our scholarships, like the 125th Anniversary Scholarships for International Students, are applied automatically to international students so all you have to do is apply to your course!
Undergraduate Scholarships
Moving to the UK for your undergraduate degree can be an exciting time. That's why we want to support you as you transition to life at Birmingham with a variety of scholarships.
From subject-specific bursaries to annual tuition fee discounts, we are committed to supporting you as you move to begin your studies at Birmingham. Our new High Fliers Scholarships will provide talented international undergraduate students with over 100 scholarships worth £5,000 each.
Postgraduate Scholarships
As one of the UK's largest communities of postgraduate students, our scholarships offer generous fee discounts for postgraduate students.
In recognition of the value of our international postgraduate students, we have launched a brand new range of £6,000 Chancellor's Scholarships for students from over 15 countries to reward academic excellence.
Scholarships for your country
In appreciation of the diversity and value our international students bring to our community, we offer scholarships for students from specific countries. These scholarships are guaranteed to support students from specific countries move to the UK and begin their studies at Birmingham.
Subject Scholarships
Many of our subjects at Birmingham offer scholarships and bursaries for international students to pursue their degree. Below are a few examples of the scholarships on offer for specific subjects:
Our Business School has over £1 million's worth of scholarships, offering up to £25,000 to awardees.
The Birmingham Law School rewards academic excellence with scholarships with £3,000 tuition fee discounts for each year of study.
The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences offers a range of scholarships, including automatic scholarships to international students.
Sponsor and Partner Scholarships
As a world top 100 university, we have an extensive range of sponsorships and partnerships with global organisations, governments and institutions.

Scholarships for students studying at our Dubai campus
For students studying at the University of Birmingham Dubai, we offer several scholarships based upon academic excellence for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The range of scholarships include up to 30% tuition fee discounts for rewarding academic performance, as well as an alumni connections discount of 20% for family members of Birmingham alumni.
Sports Scholarships
At Birmingham, we offer you a world-renown education as well as an inclusive community to help you excel inside and outside of your degree.
Home to several Olympians and Paralympians, we have scholarships and facilities to support elite and performance athletes across 56 sports so you can continue your development as a student and within your sport.
Student Loans
Student loans are often used to finance international students' studies in the UK. We work in partnership with your home countries to help you fund your degree.
For American students, we are approved by the US Department of Education to offer the William D Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program.
The Government of Canada offers Canada Student Loans to full- and part-time post-secondary students who demonstrate financial need in most provinces and territories across Canada.
For Indian students, the University is registered as an eligible institution for the Credia Indian Student Loan Program, administered through GEMS. The Program allows Indian citizens to borrow from 100,000 Indian rupees to help cover tuition fees and living expenses.
