Study Abroad scholarship and bursary
Study Abroad scholarship and bursary
1. Academic Excellence Scholarship
All applicants to our study abroad programme are eligible to apply for the Academic Excellence Scholarship, which is worth up to £1,000. Eligibility criteria include applying for study abroad with the equivalent of a UK first-class degree (3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale or an above-average score on your latest transcript). Applicants from non-English-speaking countries who apply with an IELTS score of 7.0 or above are also eligible for this scholarship.
2. Financial Hardship Bursary
The study abroad bursary provides financial support of up to £1,000 for applicants who would benefit from additional assistance to study in the UK. These awards take into account factors such as family income, financial hardship, and other economic circumstances that may make studying in the UK challenging. The University is committed to providing opportunities for all students to study at Birmingham; however, as there are a limited number of bursaries available, early application is strongly recommended.
How to apply for a study abroad scholarship?
Once you receive your offer letter to study abroad at Birmingham, you must first accept the offer in order to receive the application link for a scholarship or bursary. Full details of eligibility and selection criteria will be provided via the application form. Applicants may only be considered for one award.

Exchange costs for 2026/2027
Exchange costs for 2026/2027
There are no tuition fees from University of Birmingham for exchange students, however students will still have to prepare their own living costs.
I’ve truly felt that the University listens to and cares about its students - welcoming you as one of their own, no matter how you look, sound, or speak.
