Pedagogy in higher education on biology and Chemistry (PEMBQ), Universidad de Chile, Chile
What did you study at the University of Birmingham?
I studied in the College of Life and Environmental Sciences and my modules were: Essential Genetics, Introduction to Microbiology, Probability and statistics, From research to policy II, Primary and early years theory and practice. At my home institution, I was studying Pedagogy in higher education on biology and Chemistry (PEMBQ).
How was your semester experience at the University of Birmingham?
The main difference between Chile and the UK is the Social life at the uni. I really felt that all the stuff that I saw in movies about university life were finally fulfilled. Chile's uni is only focused on academic stuff and not on the social skills that UoB sports and social clubs have. I finally felt like a true university student.
I would say my time at UoB was full of "Liberty, growth, Happiness."
Any advice to students considering a global opportunity at UoB?
Dont repress yourself! This is the best experience you will have. Just be yourself! You will find good and bad people, of course, but that applies everywhere. The important thing is that you will grow as a person and you will discover things about yourself that you didn't know! Go! Make mistakes! Learn! Love! Live! UoB is the best place to do all of this.
