German and English, University of Potsdam, Germany
What did you study at the University of Birmingham?
I studied in the College of Arts and Law, and my modules were: Phonetics and Phonology, Shakespeare Jacobean, Grammar and Discourse. At my home institution, I was studying BA German and English.
How was your semester experience at the University of Birmingham?
The teachers and professors were extremely nice and supportive. I could always talk to someone if I needed help. New language, new people. But it was very easy to connect, so I never felt lonely. At my home institution it is almost the same, so there were almost no challenges. The Christian Union organised an entire week full of events, which all were amazing! I met lots of people and listened to a lot of interesting speeches. The best event was the dancing event on the last day. I had lots of fun and it all felt like a family.
I would say my time at UoB was "intense, experiential, colourful."
Any advice to students considering a global opportunity at UoB?
Try to attend as many events organised by the university and the students as possible. Be open, never shy.
