Summer research programme 2024 and 2025
In the past, the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences successfully delivered an 8-week summer research experience program. Between 2024 and 2025, the department hosted 10 students from the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology at Chang Gung University (CGU), Taiwan.
Prof. Steve P. Watson led the research with his team from the Birmingham Platelet Group at the University of Birmingham. The programme’s objective was to expose students to laboratory work and equip them with specialist techniques to develop their research skills.
One of the students progressed to applying for a PhD programme within the department.
The students on the programme produced publication-quality data and contributed to two manuscripts that are due to be published soon.
