The Application Process
Who can apply for BISS?
To be accepted onto BISS, you must be over 18 and studying an undergraduate programme at a university outside the UK or be registered as an international student at a UK university. You must be of good academic standing and meet the BISS English Language requirements, as well as subject-specific requirements if applicable. For more information, please see entry requirements.
How do I apply?
Applications for BISS 2027 will open in December 2026.
Can I apply for more than one BISS programme?
No, you can only apply for one programme option. Please do not apply for more than one programmme as this will slow down the progress of your application.
When will I hear from you about my application?
Students will receive an email confirming that their application has been received by the University. All applications are processed by the University admissions office, which will aim to inform you of the outcome within two weeks.
Please note that applications without an academic transcript will not be considered.
I am under 18 years old. Can I apply to BISS?
Unfortunately, BISS is currently only open to applications from students over the age of 18 years who are in undergraduate study.

Will accommodation and catering be provided?
Self-catered accommodation is included in the BISS fee; students do not need to apply for this separately. All students will be provided with a single-occupancy room with en-suite facilities. You will have access to a shared living area and kitchen, fully equipped for cooking.
When should I arrive in the UK?
The allocated arrival day for BISS students is Sunday, 18 July 2027. Information will be sent out to all students with further instructions.
Will an airport pickup be provided?
No, but don't worry - getting to the University of Birmingham campus from Birmingham Airport by taxi or train is very quick and easy. Birmingham coach station, in the city centre, is a short taxi ride to the campus accommodation. If you're arriving at any other UK airport, you may be able to get a free National Express coach voucher to travel to Birmingham coach station. When your BISS place is confirmed we will send out information on how to check if you are eligible for voucher and how to book your place.
Check our travel guide for arriving at campus from UK airports.
How can I find out more information?
