Working with our representatives

The University of Birmingham is pleased to work with a network of official representatives around the world – including education agents and counsellors – who play a valued role in supporting international students as they consider studying in the UK.

Our representatives are officially contracted partners of the University, and we engage with them on a commercial basis. In recognition of their contributions, these representatives receive appropriate remuneration for the services they provide. We are committed to maintaining transparency and clarity regarding the nature of these professional relationships.

Our trusted representatives are able to:

  • Offer guidance and information about the University of Birmingham, including our wide range of courses and scholarships
  • Assist in identifying the most suitable university and programme for your individual goals
  • Provide advice on our entry requirements, application procedures, and deadlines
  • Submit your application to the University of Birmingham and monitor its progress
  • Support with your visa application, accommodation, and other preparations for studying in the UK
  • Liaise with the university on your behalf, where necessary

Please note: Our representatives are not authorised to make offers of study on behalf of the University. Once your application has been submitted, it will be assessed by the university’s admissions team in line with our admissions policies.

We would recommend that you clarify any service charges and expectations with your representative before proceeding. Please be aware that tuition fees or course deposits should only be paid directly to the university, and never to a representative.

Our Commitment to High Standards: Agent Quality Framework (AQF)

The University of Birmingham is proud to uphold the highest standards of agent management and student support. We have formally signed the Agent Quality Framework (AQF) pledge, a collaborative initiative developed by BUILA, Universities UK International, the British Council, and UKCISA.

The AQF is a sector-wide initiative designed to:

  • Empower student choice and enable informed decision making
  • Ensure robust governance and high standards of professionalism among agents
  • Promote ethical agent practices, professional knowledge, and competency
  • Enhance transparency and accountability throughout the recruitment process

Our commitment to the AQF is reflected in our continual review of representative performance, incorporating student feedback to ensure our standards remain exemplary. All of our representatives are expected to adhere to the National Code of Ethical Practice for Education Agents, and many have completed the British Council’s UK Certified Counsellor Training, ensuring their knowledge of the UK education system, visa requirements, and compliance practices is up to date.

At the University of Birmingham, we are dedicated to providing every international student with an excellent experience – from application through to enrolment – and to ensuring that you feel welcomed and well-supported throughout your journey.
