The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce a number of scholarships of £5,000 for candidates from China applying for entry to an undergraduate programme at the university starting in September 2026.

The scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit to high performing students starting their University of Birmingham programme in the 2026/2027 academic year.

Who can apply?

The allocation of the award will be made based on academic excellence and a willingness to support the University in promoting the courses and facilities through volunteering whilst studying at the University.

In order to be eligible to apply, candidates must:

  • Have received an offer from the University of Birmingham for a full-time undergraduate programme in the above stated subject areas starting September 2026. The student must be entering the first year of an undergraduate programme based at the Birmingham UK campus.
  • Expect to at least meet with the requirements below:
    • A-Level: AAA in 3 A-Level subjects
    • IB Diploma: 6,6,6 in Higher Level subjects
    • APs: 5 for 3 APs
    • Gaokao: minimum 80% overall average; and minimum 85% overall in Year 11 and Year 12.
    • Other equivalent qualifications on case-by-case basis
  • Be classed as Chinese national or domiciled in China
  • Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.

The scholarship is £5,000 awards towards tuition fees (for the first year only) of a full-time Undergraduate degree programme at the University of Birmingham UK campus, starting September 2026.

Are there any programmes excluded from receiving this scholarship?

Please note that students already registered and studying on a programme at the University of Birmingham in the UK, and students applying for the following subjects and programmes are NOT eligible for this scholarship:

  • MBChB Medicine and Surgery
  • BDS Dental Surgery

Can this scholarship be combined with other scholarships?

This scholarship can be held in conjunction with scholarships, terms and conditions of both scholarships permitting, but not with any full University of Birmingham scholarship or any partial or full external scholarship.

What are the Terms and Conditions for this scholarship?

By accepting the award, the scholar will agree to support the University by helping with future student visits, being available for testimonials/ photos/videos for marketing purposes and engaging in other activities such as blogging (if required).
