You are strongly encouraged to accept your unconditional offer as soon as possible to ensure that your status is recorded in sufficient time as unconditionally accepted within the University's admissions system.

The University reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship offer to new applicants at any time.

Domicile means the country where you are permanently resident. It is not the same as nationality or citizenship.

In this context, being classed as ‘domiciled’ in one of the selected countries means you must be a permanent resident in one of those countries.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will receive an email confirming your scholarship award once you have accepted your unconditional offer by the scholarship deadline.

You will also receive a Notification of Award email as confirmation of the scholarship being awarded to you. You should use this email in your visa application to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The scholarship will also be reflected in your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)* which is used for visa application purposes. If you’ve already received your CAS, there’s no need for a new one—you can proceed with your visa application as usual.

The £5,000 scholarship discount will then be applied against your tuition fees once you complete Online Registration and are marked as 'Normally Registered'. You will receive an email confirming the application of the £5,000 discount. You will need to manually deduct the £5,000 from the standard tuition fees outlined in your study offer letter.

* Please ensure you read the International Recruitment Scholarships general terms and conditions as the scholarship may not be valid under certain circumstances even if it is on your CAS.

No. If you are successfully awarded the Postgraduate High Fliers Scholarship for January 2027, your £5,000 tuition fee waiver will be applied directly to your tuition fee account.

However, you will not receive an updated invoice reflecting the discounted value. During Online Registration, when setting up fee payment, you will need to manually deduct the £5,000 discount from your full tuition fees to calculate the outstanding fees that you are liable for.

Please note invoices issued at the outset of the academic year from the Finance Office will always display the full tuition fee amount before any scholarship deductions are applied.

If you have already paid your full tuition fee in advance, you can request a refund for the scholarship amount once you've enrolled. Details on the refund process can be found on the University Intranet.

No, the scheme is not available to students already enrolled on a Masters-level taught programme. 

No, this scholarship is only available to students studying at the University of Birmingham’s UK campus on one of the eligible full-time programmes.

Applicants will not be eligible for the scholarship if they are permanently domiciled in the UK at the time of application as specified on their application. Applicants must be domiciled in one of the eligible countries at the time of application.

Only full-time study on one of the eligible January 2027 postgraduate taught Masters programmes qualify.

No. Courses advertised as solely being delivered as a ‘distance’ or ‘remote learning’ programme are not eligible for this scholarship. Only full-time on-campus study of one of the select programmes at our UK campus are eligible.

Yes. If you have already applied for an eligible taught Masters programme at the University of Birmingham’s UK campus with a January 2027 start, you are still eligible for the Postgraduate High Flier Scholarship for January 2027, provided you meet all the other eligibility criteria.

This scholarship can be held in conjunction with scholarships issued by other University of Birmingham departments, provided the terms and conditions of both scholarships allow to do so. This award cannot be held in conjunction with any full-fee scholarships.

If the scholarship has already been awarded or is noted on your CAS, but cannot be held in conjunction with another scholarship, it will be withdrawn. Please ensure you accurately declare your funding source during enrolment.

Students in receipt of a partial or full tuition fee scholarship from an external organisation are not eligible.

If the University becomes aware that a student is in receipt of partial or full tuition fee funding by a third-party organisation, the student will be disqualified from receiving the Postgraduate High Fliers Scholarship.

If the scholarship has already been awarded and/or is noted on your CAS, the University reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship if it later becomes aware of information that makes the student ineligible.

By accepting this scholarship, awardees are expected to reasonably support the University by providing profiles, testimonials, and participating in ambassadorial activities if requested.
