The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce a number of scholarships of £5,000 for 

The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce a number of scholarship awards of £5,000 for Thailand-domiciled students applying for entry to an undergraduate programme at the Birmingham campus starting September 2025. This scholarship is a tuition fee reduction during year 1.

The scholarships will be awarded to the highest performing students starting their University of Birmingham programme in 2025/26 academic year.

Who can apply?

Please note that students already registered and studying on a programme at the University of Birmingham in the UK, and students applying for MBChB Medicine and Surgery or BDS Dental Surgery are not eligible for this scholarship.

Students who are applying for government scholarships are still able to apply for our awards, but if the student does receive a full government scholarship or alternative scholarship award then they are no longer eligible for this scholarship.

Please note that this scholarship can be combined with other University of Birmingham’s scholarships. Students applying through clearing will be eligible to apply for the scholarship.

In order to be eligible, candidates must:

  • Have received an offer and selected the University of Birmingham as their firm choice for a full-time undergraduate programme starting September 2025. The student must be entering the first year of an undergraduate programme based at the Birmingham UK campus.
  • Be on track to meet or exceed the academic conditions of their offer to the programme.
  • Be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee purposes and be able to pay the outstanding tuition fees not covered by the scholarship.
  • Have sufficient funds to cover the full cost of living at the University of Birmingham, plus any visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.
  • Start their studies at the University in September 2025 (the scholarship award may not be deferred).
  • Accept an offer from the University of Birmingham by the deadline: 14 July 2025.

Eligible countries

Open to all nationalities but must be living in (domiciled) Thailand.

How to Apply

To apply for the scholarship, students must have accepted an offer from the University of Birmingham, and have made Birmingham their firm choice by the scholarship deadline of 14 July 2025.

Selection for the award will be based on academic performance and an essay outlining “Why Birmingham” in not more than 300 words. Please email your essay to southeastasia@contacts.bham.ac.uk.

Decisions will be announced in late July/early August and the scholarships will be awarded upon the student’s enrolment in September 2025.
