My Graduate Story
My name is Aarya Dhijith, and I completed an MSc in International Money and Banking at the University of Birmingham. I currently work as a PWM (Private Wealth Management) Performance Analyst (Contract via Russell Tobin) at Goldman Sachs in Bangalore, India. My role involves analysing and reporting on performance metrics for private wealth management clients. I’m excited to be a part of the Goldman Sachs team and contribute my skills and expertise to deliver exceptional results.
A Day in my Life
My typical day involves analysing and reporting on client portfolio performance, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and working on ad-hoc projects to support investment decisions and client relationships. I also stay up-to-date on market trends and developments to provide insights to our clients and internal stakeholders.
My Journey to Goldman Sachs
After graduating from the University of Birmingham, I moved back to India with a strong desire to leverage my skills and knowledge in the Indian job market. As a graduate from a top university, I was determined to make a meaningful impact.
I took some time to revamp my profile, tailoring it to the Indian job market and highlighting my relevant skills and experience. This strategic move proved to be a game-changer. Great opportunities soon knocked on my door, and I landed a role at Goldman Sachs as a PWM Performance Analyst. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m grateful for the experience and skills I gained during my time at Birmingham.
My Birmingham Experience
My MSc in International Money and Banking from the University of Birmingham provided a comprehensive understanding of global financial systems, monetary policy, and banking practices. The course helped me develop advanced analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
The program’s focus on international finance and banking prepared me well for a career in the financial sector. The knowledge and skills I gained have been invaluable in my role as a PWM Performance Analyst at Goldman Sachs.

The University of Birmingham’s Careers Network played a significant role in preparing me for my career. They provided guidance on resume building, interview preparation, and job search strategies and organized career fairs and networking events that allowed me to connect with top employers, including investment banks.
The Careers Network also helped me secure a summer internship, which was a valuable experience that helped me build my skills and confidence. Overall, the university’s support services helped me develop the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to succeed in my career.
My Achievements
My biggest achievement during my MSc International Money and Banking course was completing my dissertation, which required a tremendous amount of effort and dedication. I’m proud to say that I scored more than 70% on my dissertation, which was a testament to my hard work and perseverance.
It was a challenging but rewarding experience that allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems and demonstrate my research skills.
Advice for Students
To my fellow graduates, I’d like to offer a few words of advice. Earning your degree is just the beginning—its true value lies in the opportunities and experiences it will bring.
