My Graduate Story
I began my undergraduate degree in 2017 in Education and Sociology. From the placements I undertook during my degree, I decided I was interested in teaching. I then applied for my PGCE course and graduated in 2021.
My Journey to Teaching
The highlight of my time at Birmingham was the opportunity to have two different placements. My first placement was in an EYFS setting, and my second placement was in primary school setting. This helped forge my love for primary teaching and I decided to pursue my career within this field. My day is never the same and I meet different children who I get to inspire.
How studying at Birmingham prepared me for my career
My programme offered CPD opportunities, which helped with my professional development around my studies. In my spare time, I was able to gain extra qualifications, which helped me secure my role. My tutor helped prepare me for interviews and draft a personal statement, which proved really useful in interviews.
My experience at Birmingham
The course is fantastic and the team were really supportive. Our lecturers were subject experts in their area and the pastoral care I received was fantastic. I am excited by the opportunity to be a positive role model for these children and working in the school community. Teaching can be an incredibly rewarding and sustainable career. I see myself teaching for long into the future.
