    My Graduate Story

My name is Gayatri Nair, and I completed a Masters in International Business at the University of Birmingham.

I currently work as a Lecturer at the Canadian University Dubai in the School of Management.

A Day in my Life

My day starts with taking lectures, attending meetings with faculty and students, working on research and other administrative tasks. I teach entrepreneurship courses for undergraduate students at the university. Apart from teaching, I am also an active researcher and published articles in Scopus indexed journals, book chapters, case studies, and in conferences. My job role also includes mentoring and advising students to ensure a smooth academic journey.

My Journey to Canadian University Dubai

I was a teaching assistant in the university at the time and UoB’s degree facilitated my transition from being an assistant to a Lecturer. Receiving a UK degree opened a lot of learning opportunities for me. Earning a master's degree helped me in learning more about the various topics, while also improving my writing skills and assignment quality.

My Birmingham Experience

Personal: Made a lot of friends who I am in touch with. I also got to mingle with diverse groups of students and faculty.

Professional: Since I am an academic, I have adopted a few teaching techniques from my instructors and the courses have shaped my mindset towards encouraging a greater learning experience.

Academic: I have gained valuable insights from my courses which I am able to reflect to my students and help in their advanced thinking.

Birmingham's Impact

I do stay in connection with the careers page to learn what's new in the market. The newsletters enabled that. The scholarship was very generous and it helped me finance and meet the instalments. I was able to fund the master's myself which I am very proud and humble for.

My Achievements

  1. I have made a lot of personal and professional connections.
  2. I have learnt a lot from the modules and assessments.
  3. I finally made it!
