Musavir Gajani
My Graduate Story
My name is Musavir Gajani, and I completed a graduate entry Bachelors in Law (LLB) at the University of Birmingham.
I am currently a Senior Partner at Gajani & Shar - Barristers, Advocates & Legal Consultants. I founded this law firm in 2023. Before going independent and founding this law firm, I worked as an Associate at a law firm and a Senior Associate at another law firm, where I was also promoted as a Partner.
A Day in my Life
My day begins at 8am when the Court commences. I rush from one case to another, doing hearings in some while conducting cross-examinations in the others. The Court adjourns for the day at 1:30pm, after which I go straight to my office to conduct meetings with clients and potential clients. Before leaving office at around 7:30pm, I make sure that I am fully prepared for the next day in Court, by looking over all the files for the cases due in the morning.
My Journey to Gajani & Shar
My learning experience on the course was instrumental in preparing me for my career. The comprehensive curriculum provided a strong theoretical foundation, while assignments and projects helped me develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, the emphasis on collaboration and communication during seminars (group work) mirrored real-world professional environments, enabling me to work effectively with diverse teams. Overall, the LLB for Graduates equipped me with both the knowledge and skills necessary to confidently navigate the challenges of my career.
My Birmingham Experience
The best things about LLB for Graduates were the practical application of legal principles and the diverse range of modules that provided a comprehensive understanding of the law. The seminars allowed me to engage critically while honing my analytical skills. The faculty members, with their expertise and real-world experience, offered valuable guidance and insights. Additionally, mooting exercises significantly enhanced my advocacy and communication skills. Overall, the course equipped me with a strong foundation in law and prepared me for the complexities of a legal career.
Moreover, the campus gives an unmatchable vibe that only contributes positively to the entire learning environment.
Birmingham's Impact
The University’s support services, such as the Careers Network, were incredibly helpful in preparing me for my career. Although I did not avail all of the services, they offered provided valuable resources like career counselling, CV workshops and mock interview sessions. The networking events and job fairs organized by the university allowed me to connect with industry professionals and explore career opportunities. These services played a significant role in my transition from university to the professional world.
My Achievements
There were many big achievements and it is hard to choose any one. I was a member of the prestigious Holdsworth Law Club, a Semi-Finalist in the PostGrad Mooting Cup, Secretary General of the Pakistani Society, Chief Editor of newsletter of Pakistani Society, Student Ambassador of Pakistan at the University, Student Representative of LLB for Graduates, and Undergraduate Representative of Law School in The College Assembly.
