Why did you originally apply to do BSc Computer Science at Birmingham?
I applied to study Computer Science at Birmingham as the diverse career options available after completing this particular course were very appealing to me, in comparison to other universities.
What do you think are the best points of BSc Computer Science?
The course blends theory and practice, so you get to actually do what you have spent a long time studying and learning about. It's crucial to understand theory in order to apply it in your practice, and I thoroughly enjoy learning while doing.
What is the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?
Our campus is unique and truly breath-taking. It's a lovely green and spacious place to walk through between lectures, or to relax around. The cohort and general student community is also incredibly diverse, which makes your experience more inclusive.
What is the highlight of your time at the University?
The University is home to an incredible array of various societies, and they all host many events throughout the years, ranging from chilled-out meet-ups to trips away. It's definitely made socialising while studying easier!
What advice would you give to students thinking about studying BSc Computer Science?
Don't worry too much if you haven't studied Computer Science in your A-levels, you will be able to learn everything from scratch on the course!
Is there anything extra students thinking about studying BSc Computer Science should know?
Just know that the stress, the activities, and the friends you make are all part of the university experience. There are ups and downs, but it's all worth it! I'd also encourage you to take part in as may co-curricular activities as possible.
