Why did you originally apply to do MEng Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Year at Birmingham?
I applied to study mechanical engineering as I was quite good at maths and physics at school, but didn’t want to pursue either pure maths or physics. I found the idea of engineering as a subject to be quite interesting, and it's diverse.

The best thing about the course is the amount and variety of topics you can study every year. The first year on a Birmingham engineering degree is shared across the mechanical, electrical and civil disciplines, so you are able to study things outside the traditional scope of your chosen course. There is also a large variety of assessment methods including coursework and exams which play to different people’s strengths.

The best thing about studying here is being so close to a major city where you can do anything and everything that you want to, as well as feeling like you’re in your own university bubble. The campus has a large green space as well as providing you with everything you need every day.
What’s your highlight of your time at the University?
The highlight of my time at the University has been meeting loads of different people through different societies and clubs, as well as studying my course. You get to meet people you wouldn’t normally meet in your hometown; it really broadens your ideas and helps you to understand the world better.
