Tell us about your career so far
I worked for a large chain supermarket in China for three years, successively holding positions as a department manager in stores and a purchasing department manager in the company. I participated in the preparation and opening of new stores many times. In the purchasing department, I developed new supply chains, reducing the procurement cost of related goods by approximately 30%.
Why did you choose to study an MBA at the University of Birmingham?
The University of Birmingham boasts the oldest business school in the UK, with a profound historical and cultural heritage. I hope to absorb ideas and experiences from all over the world in the MBA program, experience new things, and acquire business skills and capabilities. Additionally, I want to reflect on my career development and future in the context of the sluggish physical retail industry.
What are your career aspirations after completing the MBA?
In the short term, I might try out various industries, including those I'm interested in such as finance, technology, and art, rather than confining myself to the retail sector. I hope to work in each industry for at least one to two years to acquire proficient skills and thereby compare my areas of expertise. From a long-term perspective, once I determine my area of strength, I will delve into it, strive to become an industry expert, and make achievements in management.
