Why did you originally apply to do MEng Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Year at Birmingham?
I chose this course as it is very diverse in its contents. It ranges from design and development to manufacturing and robotics. I knew that I wanted to do an Engineering course and when I did some research on Mechanical Engineering, I found it a lot more intriguing than other Engineering courses, in my opinion.
What do you think are the best points of MEng Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Year?
The practical, hands-on aspects of the course.
What’s the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?
Studying at the University of Birmingham has been really great. I would say the best thing about UoB is the massive campus that is available to students to learn and revise the modules in our courses.
What’s your highlight of your time at the University?
My highlight so far has been the group project Mechanical Design. In this module we had the opportunity to design a two stroke engine to which we had to design to parameters given. I found this really fun, especially the design aspect in which we used Autodesk Fusion 360 to design the engine.
What advice would you give to students thinking about studying MEng Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Year?
The course is full-on and requires a lot of dedication but if you have a passion for Engineering then it will be a very exciting course.
