Hi! I’m Jack and I'm a second year Film & Creative Writing student. I love all things film - from Netflix and the cinema, to film theory and criticism.

Tell us a bit about yourself

I have a passion for films and sports, spending half of my time playing social football at uni, and the other half in the ERI doing my work! My favourite film of all time is Gladiator, but I love hearing people talk with passion about the films they like.  I always said that if I could achieve a lifestyle that revolves around my passions, I’d be extremely happy! The University of Birmingham provides this exact lifestyle for me, as I am able to work on, enjoy and indulge in all of the amazing opportunities that revolve around the things I love. I am also incredibly sociable (I think I could talk for England) so if you see me around on campus (or more likely the pub), please come and say hello!

What's your favourite memory from your degree?

My favourite memory would be going abroad to Budapest with my football Society last year. It was a lot of fun and I can’t believe how close I became with lads that I didn’t even know a year ago. My other favourite memory was being able to help out in the Film department at uni as it was nice to show the despite being a student, I can be extremely useful.

What advice do you have for future students?

Be as proactive as you can and say yes to as much as you can, but make sure to balance the serious side with the fun side. Pick an opportunity that helps your career and pick a society to do because you love it.
