Why did you originally apply to do your chosen course at Birmingham?

I chose Birmingham because the course is highly ranked and really relevant to current industry trends, especially in data science. I wanted something that would be useful for my future career, and this course felt like a good balance between reputation and practical skills.

What do you think are the best points of your course?

One of the best things is how relevant it is to what’s happening in the real world right now. The course focuses a lot on practical skills like data analysis and modelling, so it feels very career-oriented rather than just theoretical.

What’s the best thing about studying at Birmingham?

The campus and environment are really nice and convenient, and there are lots of opportunities to get involved in different activities. I also like how diverse the student community is, which means I get to meet people from all over the world.

What’s the highlight of your time at the University?

One of the highlights for me is meeting a group of friends from different countries. Everyone is really supportive and willing to help each other, so studying together actually becomes quite enjoyable instead of stressful.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying on the course?

Try to stay consistent with your studies and don’t leave everything to the last minute, especially for technical modules. Also, don’t be afraid to ask questions, it really helps with understanding difficult topics.

Is there anything extra students thinking about studying on the course should know?

It can be quite intensive at times, especially if you’re new to programming or statistics, but it’s manageable if you keep up. There’s also a lot of support available, so make sure to use it when you need.
