Why did you originally apply to do MEng Computer Science/Software Engineering at Birmingham?

I applied to pursue my chosen course at Birmingham due to its outstanding global and national reputation in academia. Birmingham's high rankings both worldwide and within the UK immensely appealed to me. What do you think are the best points of MEng Computer Science/Software Engineering?

I think the hands-on approach in our course is one of its best aspects. Having a lot of coursework gives us ample opportunities to practice and apply what we learn. The abundance of labs is a huge advantage because it makes it easier to get help and clarification whenever we need it. I also appreciate how supportive the staff is—they're incredibly responsive and always there when we need assistance. Furthermore, I believe our professors and the course itself impart invaluable skills crucial for our future careers. The guidance and mentorship from our professors extend beyond theoretical knowledge, equipping us with practical skills essential in our professional journeys. The course curriculum not only focuses on academic expertise but also emphasises soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork—attributes indispensable in any career path. This holistic approach ensures that we not only excel academically but also develop into well-rounded professionals ready to tackle the challenges of the real world.
