I’m Lucy, a fourth year Liberal Arts student here at University of Birmingham!

Throughout my degree, I’ve taken a wide variety of arts modules with a focus on Literature, History, and Anthropology. I’m particularly interested in Women’s Studies, children’s literature, and the long nineteenth century.

In my third year, I did the Year in Civic Leadership, which combines a part-time volunteer placement with theory modules on what it means to enact change in civic spaces. My placement was with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon and I worked as an Engagement Assistant in their Archive Department, designing archive literacy and craft workshops to ensure women feel more comfortable in archive spaces.

I’ve also been super active in extra-curricular activities throughout my degree, writing and directing multiple shows for different Guild Drama societies. I co-founded an annual feminist performing arts festival during my third year, and it’s been wonderful to see so many of my interests in gender, leadership, and engagement overlap!
