What has been the highlight of your time at Birmingham?
The university has a range of facilities to offer to students such as social and sports activities that help you balance your academic life with your social life.
Have you joined any clubs or societies, gone on any research trips or done any volunteering?
I have gone on a number of research trips and site visits during my undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Why did you choose the University of Birmingham?
I chose the University of Birmingham because of the reputation of the Department of Civil Engineering and the high quality of the course, teaching, the excellent student experience and facilities.
What was your motivation for undertaking postgraduate study?
My research addresses management in the construction industry. The course offers so much in terms of developing my construction management skills with the help of supervisors. The research project links to our practice and the supervisors provide us with invaluable help, feedback and advice.
How will your degree prepare you for what you want to do afterwards?
A doctorate research degree opens up a wide range of career opportunities. Completing a PhD Course gives you the ability to use your knowledge and research skills in your future career and life.
What, for you, are the best things about PhD Civil Engineering?
I enjoy site visits, it is really helpful to experience being on site of a construction project and observe development of construction stages. I also made some of my good friends during my undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
