I am the Director and Co-founder of Targeye, where we are innovating a medical assistive device to help patients with limited hand mobility - such as those with arthritis, Parkinson’s, or diabetic neuropathy - administer eye drops more easily. At Targeye, I lead product development, commercial growth, and drive strategy and innovation.
What was your journey to getting a job after graduating from Birmingham?
After graduating from the University of Birmingham, I chose to take a risk and begin my entrepreneurial journey rather than follow a traditional job application route. Through extensive research and clinical interviews, my team and I identified an unmet clinical need with strong market potential. We focused on addressing a critical gap in the market and began developing a robust business plan. This early work laid the foundation for the venture and has ultimately led us to where we are today.
What were the best things about your course and how do you feel the learning experience helped to prepare you for your career?
The lecturers and support staff were incredibly kind and supportive, creating a welcoming learning environment. I also really valued the practical focus of the course, which allowed me to apply what I learned directly to real-world situations. Understanding of biological processes and medical conditions is pivotal in guiding our product development. Approaching challenges with a scientific, evidence-based mindset, ensures innovative and effective solutions.
