Why did you want to study in Birmingham?
The biggest upside for me was having a campus that's tucked away from the city, but still close enough for an easy trip to visit fun events and exhibitions.
Why did you want to study Drama and Film - what stood out?
I wanted to combine practical drama and film into one degree. With the best of both worlds, I was able to learn and practice both my interests and broaden my understanding of drama and film. Having different performance spaces for rehearsals and assessments was a huge upside as well; combined with the opportunity to perform in plays with the school's many drama societies.
What are your favourite places to visit in the Midlands?
I enjoy going to Digbeth, it combines my love of cinema, board games, and music all into one place. Perfect for a day out!
What are the main differences between living in the UK compared to your home country, has anything surprised you?
The daily pace of life is slower here, and I enjoy being able to spend the weekends going out and enjoying the lush green landscapes the UK has to offer.
Describe an average week in your life?
My average week comprises weekly rehearsals and study sessions for my assignments, and some days spent in the editing suite working on a short film. Out of school hours, I'm in the Guild with my friends attending improv workshops or getting ready to put on a play with Guild Drama.
How do you think your degree and studying abroad will support your future plans?
My degree provides me with the base knowledge and opportunities to pursue a career in drama and film. Furthermore the opportunity to meet and work with people of different cultures broadens my perspectives and helps me understand how I can embrace my identity and make my mark in the industry.
What have become some of your new favourite things after living in the UK?
I've found myself watching more plays and gigs around the UK, exploring more genres and discovering new music.
