Muthana Alghamdi

Can you tell us about yourself?

I am a final-year BSc Accounting & Finance student at the University of Birmingham, a Russell Group institution ranked 10th in the UK and 68th globally, and one of the few universities worldwide to hold Triple Crown accreditation (AACSB, AMBA & EQUIS). I am also a current Indirect Tax Intern at PwC Saudi Arabia and recipient of the Birmingham Award with Distinction.

What has your experience of Accounting and Finance at Birmingham been like?

I am thoroughly enjoying my course; it aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and academic interests. I chose the University of Birmingham primarily because of its stellar global reputation and the Business School’s prestigious Triple-crown accreditation.

How has Birmingham helped you prepare for a career in finance?

The support from the university staff and careers team has been exceptional - from refining my CV and conducting mock interviews to providing access to industry-standard resources like the Bloomberg Terminals. This solid academic foundation and career support played a major role in preparing me to secure and excel in my placement role at PwC.

What has your experience been beyond academia?

I served as Treasurer of the UoB Saudi Society (university-affiliated) and Cultural Officer of the Saudi Student Club (affiliated with the Saudi Cultural Attaché) — managing budgets and leading events for a community of 800+ members, alongside roles as Student Ambassador and Peer Support Assistant.
