Why did you originally apply to do MSci Chemistry with Industrial Experience at Birmingham?

I knew I wanted to come to Birmingham when I visited on an Offer Holder Visit Day. I was just blown away by how modern and impressive the teaching labs were, and how friendly all the lecturers seemed.

What do you think are the best points of MSci Chemistry with Industrial Experience?

Personally, I believe the main benefit of the course is the opportunity to spend time both in an industrial and an academic environment. These experiences have been really helpful whilst I have been deciding what to do after my degree finishes. Plus, finishing university with a year of relevant work experience is invaluable when looking for jobs!

What’s the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?

I love the Birmingham campus – it feels very green and peaceful when you’re on campus. You would never guess the city centre is only a ten-minute train ride away!

What’s your highlight of your time at the University?

My favourite moment was going to my first Chemistry Society dance (ChemBal)l last year. Chemball wasn’t able to happen in my first or second year so I was really excited to finally have the chance to attend last year. It was so much fun seeing everyone dressed up, and having a night to relax and celebrate with my course mates.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying MSci Chemistry with Industrial Experience?

Attend Open Days and/or Offer Holder Visit Days. It’s the best way of finding out whether a university is right for you. It’s especially useful to talk to current students and find out what their experiences have been like.
