Tell us about your career so far

I have over five years of professional experience in the maritime industry as an Administrative Manager. My expertise includes international business coordination, compliance with IMO and MLC standards, financial and budget oversight, recruitment, and staff development. I have led cross-functional teams and worked closely with government authorities, seafarers’ unions, and insurers. A key achievement was successfully managing a complex crew accident case, securing full compensation for affected seafarers, which resulted in my promotion and strengthened my leadership and problem-solving capabilities.

Why did you choose to study an MBA at the University of Birmingham?

I chose the University of Birmingham for its strong emphasis on responsible business, ethical leadership, and global perspective, combined with its hands-on, practice-oriented MBA approach. The Birmingham MBA’s focus on modules such as The Purposeful Leader, International Business and Strategy, and Strategy in a Complex and Uncertain World closely aligns with my professional values and aspirations. Birmingham Business School’s research-led teaching, real-world projects, and diverse international cohort provide an ideal environment to deepen my strategic thinking, broaden my global outlook, and develop as a responsible leader.

What are your career aspirations after completing the MBA?

In the short term, I aim to progress into a senior managerial role within the maritime industry, strengthening my strategic and operational leadership capabilities. In the long term, I aspire to establish a responsible enterprise that creates inclusive  employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Guided by EDI principles and ethical governance, my goal is to challenge societal perceptions, promote dignity through work, and contribute to sustainable economic and social development.
