How have you found your time at Birmingham?
I have spent the happiest, most relaxing, yet busy and meaningful year of my life. I met many wonderful people from diverse countries, languages, and cultures, and along the way I made several close friends. We attended classes together, worked on group projects, and faced various challenges — but we overcame them as a team.
This year has given me a lifestyle completely different from the one I had during my first twenty years in China. I learned how to take care of myself and how to become a real adult, facing everything in life — whether in study or in daily living, whether in times of progress or in moments of difficulty.
Most importantly, I have grown more confident, developed greater self-awareness, and learned how to live well.
What has been your favourite part of university?
My favourite part of the university is the main library. It is open 24/7 throughout the semester and provides a wide range of digital devices for all students. On the ground floor, there is a lounge where we can take a break, and throughout the building, there are different study spaces to meet various needs — from silent public areas to seminar rooms for group work. There are even multimedia booths with iMacs for editing videos or images.
In addition, the library also offers IT support and academic assistance. Overall, it is a multifunctional place where students can access valuable resources.
How has your degree helped you?
It has equipped me with a higher degree, which makes it easier to find a good job.
What would be your advice to prospective students?
Getting involved in a university club or organisation is a great way to adjust to local life and meet new people.
