Hi! I am Samhitha, I study first year BSc Psychology. I’m from India, Bangalore and I love all things film, dance and music!
My favourite courses are Social Psychology; Personality Psychology; and Developmental Psychology.
I usually wake up around 9am since I don’t have many morning classes and quickly make myself a smoothie before heading out to classes. I usually come back between classes to have some lunch or simply get something on campus which is usually a burrito or rice bowl from Kimiko. Once classes are done, I tend to meet up with a few friends, we either just hang out at someone’s accommodations or go get groceries for the week. At night, I make my dinner and try catching up on lectures or assignments then head to bed.
The university has an incredible Psychology department and is one of the top universities for research as well!! There are plenty of opportunities to study abroad, work on research studies during your first year or attend incredibly useful seminars. Apart from that, it’s close distance to London and other amazing cities. Also! The campus really sold it for me.
For someone who is not entirely sure about what they specific field they want to work in with Psychology, the university is really helpful since it exposes you to all the different kinds of fields while offering a lot of support with the help of tutor groups and mentors. With the university's top research facilities and after reading plenty of articles written by the professors teaching there, I knew that they were some of the most experienced in the subject.
Student life here is pretty busy, and if there’s nothing happening on campus then there’s always activities planned by your accommodation teams in the buildings which is a great way to make friends! it involves pottery painting, free boba or even movie nights!
The student culture here is incredibly diverse as well, as an International student I never felt homesick and was exposed to various cultures at the same time! The campus is also close to many locations such as the Winterbourne gardens (which are free for the students at the university!)
I received updates from the Careers Network team about internships and jobs constantly which they helped me keep up with those on top of the tremendous amount of support they offer students. The Guild of Students is also incredibly active with student concerns and gets to solving any student issues right away!
