Why did you choose to study at the University of Birmingham?

I loved the massive campus and was intrigued by the huge library. I also loved the campus location; it is a peaceful, calm environment. And I oddly love the UK's cold climate, and Birmingham provided that without being too harsh.

What made you choose your course, and what interested you most about the subject?

I originally studied Biotechnology, and certain topics/modules piqued my interest. So, I thought, why not study it in depth and learn about the intricacies of immunology? Also, I really wanted to learn more about inflammation and how immune cells take part in it.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

It must be the assignments. I love the rush I get when there is a deadline, and I must meet it to finish a module. But what I loved more were the group activities that we did as a class.

How has your course helped you develop the knowledge and skills you'll need for your future career?

The knowledge I gained was immense; I learnt far more than I thought I would. Sometimes I was surprised to read research papers and learn about new things that my previous education had barely touched on.

What are your career goals after graduation, and how has your course prepared you to achieve them?

I really want to work as a researcher at a university or as a laboratory assistant for a couple of years and then probably do a PhD. The course taught me how to read research papers and how to give presentations on them. The course taught me in depth about research on immune cells and how to write grant proposals based on it.
