Please tell us about your current role and employer.

I currently lead the Trial Management Unit (TMU) in the Research & Development (R&D) Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, which is one of the UK's largest teaching Trusts employing over 10,000 staff. The Trial Management Unit (TMU) provides dedicated support and assistance to researchers throughout the clinical trial process from initial concept through to trial completion. In August 2025, the TMU celebrated it's 10th Anniversary!

What does a typical day in your current role look like?

Trial managing multiple clinical research studies, with documentation development, regulatory approvals, data management, monitoring recruitment and patient safety. I also review feasibility of new grant applications and manage the Unit's finances. I support the Unit day-to-day with resolving clinical trial challenges, implementing and updating processes, and organising Team Building Days. I am particularly proud of the continuous learning culture in my team and wider Trust.

How do you feel the learning experience on your course helped to prepare you for your career?

The Health Research Methods MSc provided me with role-specific knowledge and confidence to apply for the position of Clinical Trial Delivery Manager.

What are your top tips for students graduating today?

Continue your learning mindset throughout your career and life. Seek out new opportunities, say yes to new experiences, and learn from the inevitable challenges.

What was your biggest achievement during your course? 

Authoring my first academic journal paper on my MSc dissertation project, which I also presented at a national conference.
