One of the best aspects of the course is its strong balance between theoretical foundations and practical application. The modules are challenging but rewarding, and they develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and technical skills that are essential in the tech industry.

What’s the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?

There are numerous careers fairs throughout the year, some of which are specifically tailored to EPS students, which provides great opportunities to network with employers and gain industry insight.

What’s the highlight of your time at the University?

The highlight of my time at Birmingham has been meeting people from many different backgrounds. Making friends from different cultures has allowed me to learn about new traditions, try new experiences, and build meaningful friendships while enjoying university life together.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying on the course?

I would strongly recommend learning some basic coding before starting the course. I had very little coding experience when I began, and I think that slowed me down initially. Having some prior exposure would make the transition into the course much smoother.

Is there anything extra students thinking about studying on the course should know?

Your course mates will play a huge role in your success. Make friends on your course — they will support you academically, help you stay motivated, and make the workload feel more manageable. Computer Science is challenging, and having a strong support system makes a big difference.
