How have you found your time at Birmingham?

I hold a BSc in Data Analytics and spent two years working as a data analyst. While analytics remains a core strength, I wanted to broaden my impact by understanding the algorithms and systems behind modern AI. Therefore, I pursued the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Birmingham.

It’s my first time studying abroad, and Birmingham’s diverse, welcoming city made the transition smooth. I found a supportive academic environment, a vibrant international community, and plenty of opportunities to grow in both technically and personally.

What do you like the most about the university?

Beyond academic, my favourite experience has been serving as a Student Ambassador. Filming content, supporting events, and meeting ambassadors from around the world was genuinely fun and helped me build soft skills like communication, teamwork, and confidence while earning alongside my studies. I also appreciated the approachable staff, well equipped facilities, and the Careers Network’s practical guidance.

How has the degree helped you?

The MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning struck the right balance between theory and practice. “Mathematical Foundations of AI and ML” deepened my understanding of the mathematics that make models robust in the real world, while “Neural Computation” let me explore core methodologies behind modern architectures, including transformers. Coursework and projects gave me hands on experience and the confidence to apply these ideas to real problems.
