Why did you originally apply to do MSci Computer Science with a Year in Industry at Birmingham?

Before applying, I visited several different universities across the country and Birmingham was my favourite! I loved the atmosphere on campus and how friendly everyone in Computer Science was on the Open Day.

What do you think are the best points of MSci Computer Science with a Year in Industry?

In my opinion, I particularly like that the course has fixed modules for the first two years for everyone. This meant I got a good basis in lots of different areas of computer science and I have been able to tailor my module choices in my third and fourth years to the topics I’ve enjoyed most so far.

What’s the best thing about studying at the University of Birmingham?

Personally, one of the things I love about the University is the campus and the facilities we’ve got, but also how close we are to the city centre where there’s so much to do. There’s also a huge number of things students can get involved with on campus including sports clubs and societies.

What’s your highlight of your time at the University?

So far the highlight of my time at Birmingham has been the people that I’ve met here! I’ve made some great friends from lots of different places, and I joined a new sports club in my third year too.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying MSci Computer Science with a Year in Industry?

My advice would be to go for it! Visit the University if you can to see if you get a good feel for it, and meet some of the lecturers that could be teaching you if you join.
