5 things I wish I brought to Uni: From one student to another
Getting ready for university? You've read countless packing lists but you'll still miss something, and it'll be one of the most important things!
Getting ready for university? You've read countless packing lists but you'll still miss something, and it'll be one of the most important things!

This is my short, efficient list of things I wish I'd brought to Uni...
The weather here can be totally unpredictable, and you don’t want to get drenched in the untimely rains or end up shivering because of the cold and wind.
Who doesn’t like a clean space? I’m glad I got myself quite a few of these in different sizes as soon as I could, once I moved in. They truly are lifesavers when it comes to sorting and arranging almost anything. Cutlery, stationery, snacks, clothes: you name it!
Staying hydrated is important, and being sustainable just makes it better! I mean, we can’t keep buying drinks every hour, can we?

Moving away from home and family can make you miss them a lot. Carry with you something that can make your tiny space lively and homely, this could be anything. Fairy lights, wall hangings, photographs or photo frames of loved ones. It just helps you feel more at home.

Some people are gifted in the kitchen, some aren’t and I fall into the not so naturally gifted category sadly. Being able to cook definitely helps to manage your finances and time efficiently, whilst meal prepping allows you to stay healthy as well! It also means meals don’t become boring and you can look forward to a delicious meal at the end of a long day of lecturers.

Experiences can differ, but this was my list and I hope it helps someone planning on coming to University of Birmingham this year.
P.S: Make sure you don’t panic if you forget something, it's normal to forget at least one thing. There are plenty of shops around, so you’ll never be without. University is going to be great; you've got this!
