City of Birmingham: a vibrant hub of culture, history, and opportunity
The ultimate student city: vibrant life, endless opportunities, and a thriving campus culture.
The ultimate student city: vibrant life, endless opportunities, and a thriving campus culture.

As a student living in Selly Oak, I can honestly say Birmingham ticks all the boxes for an interactive university experience. This diverse city has everything a student could want, from affordable living to a buzzing social scene.
Let's start with the basics - Selly Oak itself is a student haven. You've got grocery stores, cosy cafes to hit the books, and an endless array of cuisine from Chinese to Korean to Egyptian, all within walking distance of campus. No more overpriced, sad university meal plans! The area has such a lively, youthful vibe thanks to the university crowd.
But Birmingham offers so much more than Selly Oak. A quick 10-minute train ride lands you right in the city centre, a hub of shopping, nightlife, and entertainment. From affordable vintage stores such as the Red Brick Market in Digbeth to the dance floor on Broadstreet, the city's got you covered without breaking the bank.
The myriad of cultures is also rich in Birmingham - my favourite spot is the Asia Asia food hall for an amazing spread of Asian cuisine and culture located in China town right by the city centre.
On top of that, the transport links from Birmingham are stellar. Craving to get away for a weekend? No problem with the connected train stations that can take you all over the country. There's also the airport nearby for those hoping to go international.
Between the affordability, central location, and endless options for food, culture, and nightlife, Birmingham is truly a student paradise. If you're headed to university here, you're in for an incredible experience!
