Birmingham is a vibrant city with culture, food, shopping, sport, and green spaces – something for everyone!

Birmingham is a bustling city with plenty to do!

Aside from great shopping opportunities and places to eat out there are always plenty of events to get stuck into!

Through my time here already I have attended a multitude of concerts with multiple arenas being in Birmingham city centre and its surrounding areas. Little Mix, 5 seconds of summer, Sea Girls and JLS are just a few that I’ve seen since coming to Birmingham!

However, there are several events which I’ve been able to attend for free while in university provided by the hall reps in the accommodation such as free food, quizzes, painting, dog therapy and even massages! Through the university's student guild website and hall reps Instagram accounts, these events are super easy to hear about and attend, providing a fun, free opportunity to socialise and do something different with your friends.

Additionally, one of the highlights of my year was the Colour Run organised on The Vale accommodation village which was advertised through emails and on socials. This event had a great turn out, so it was really nice seeing so many familiar faces – even if the vibrant powder made people difficult to recognise! This event also was very reasonably priced making it an affordable, good outing.

However, the university aren’t the only people offering free events with plenty occurring in the city centre – the Christmas markets being one! Nonetheless, the most memorable for me was the premier of the final season of Peaky Blinders where we got to see a real-life red carpet and some of the stars from the show!
