So, I wanted to write a blog about everything I loved about my first year accommodation. During my first year I stayed in Battery Park, in the heart of Selly Oak – for me it was the perfect place to begin my university experience. Here’s some of my fave things about my first year accommodation…
With its own cinema room, games room, and spacious study spaces, Battery Park had everything you needed to study hard and play harder. The first floor was the place to be to meet new people in Freshers Week, hang out with friends, or just chill out and study. It's a great space if you want to stay in the accommodation but get out of your room!
Being in Battery Park, you will get used to the convenience of the shops which can be both a help and a hindrance at the same time. This means when it comes to shopping you don’t have to struggle by carrying heavy bags across Selly Oak, as Sainsbury’s is literally on your doorstep. Of course, the Battery Retail Park is also enticing from maccies, JD, Costa and M&S, so there’s really something for everyone!
The staff at the desk are super helpful, from collecting your parcels, cleaning the building and fixing the shower, or letting me back into my room after being locked out. They are always super quick to respond which I really appreciated.
Even if you just want to stop for a quick chat, there is always someone there 24/7.

The modern feel of my room lived up to my expectations. It was for sure my favourite part of living at Battery Park. With a space that I could make my own and plenty of storage, I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

Need help choosing your first year accommodation? Hopefully this has helped, and don’t forget to check out all the other accommodation the University has available.
